Lighting the way

The source of lighting in your hydroponic garden is very important and your plant's lighting needs may vary.

Lighting is a critical factor in plant growth and development, and hydroponic plants require adequate light to produce healthy and nutritious crops. Depending on the type of plants being grown, you may need to use different types of lighting, including fluorescent, LED, or high-intensity discharge lamps (metal halide (MH) and high pressure sodium (HPS). It's important to ensure that your plants receive the appropriate amount and intensity of light for their growth stage, and that the lighting is positioned correctly to avoid burning or shading the plants.

Different plants will have different needs, some plants need a longer day cycle, some need a longer night cycle. Some plants require one spectrum of light to produce vegetative growth such as leaves and shoots, and another type of light for flowering. It is important to research the lighting requirements of each of the plants you desire to grow.
